DIY VENETIAN-INSPIRED CARNIVAL MASK
What you'll need for this activity:
• Sheets of thin card or a paper plate for the mask (cardboard or card are thicker and better than paper)
• Caran d’Ache acrylic paints in various colors
• Paint brushes
• A graphite pencil
• A pair of scissors
• Glue
• A paper straw or ribbon
• Glitter, feathers, sequins, beads... to decorate the mask

Step by step guide to crafting your DIY Venetian Carnival mask:
1. Cut your paper plate in half. This will be the base for your Venetian mask. You can also cut out a semicircle in a piece of card, making sure that it is as wide as your face.
2. Cut out holes for the eyes and trace a teardrop shape with the graphite pencil around them.
3. Paint the base of your mask with acrylic paint in the color of your choice, avoiding the outline around the eyes.
4. Paint around the eyes using a different color.

5. Leave the paint to dry completely.
6. Once the paint is dry, take a piece of card and cut it into a diamond shape. The paper must be big enough to cover your nose.

8. Once the paint is dry, glue the nose piece on the lower part of the half paper plate, making sure that it is in the middle.

9. Cut out and paint other pieces of card to create feathers and let them dry. With scissors, cut a fringe edging on the cardboard feathers.
10. Glue the feathers to the outer edge of your mask. You can also stick some real feathers if you prefer.
11. Add beads, glitter or sequins to decorate your Venetian mask. Go wherever your imagination takes you!
12. Attach a paper straw to one side of the mask so that you can hold it in front of your face (use a glue gun) or simply tie a piece of ribbon to the back of the mask by making two small holes either side.
