Discover NEXT STOP – an exploration of our perception of time – the installation by RYLSEE at the Espace Créatif Caran d’Ache in Lausanne.
Caran d’Ache has invited Rylsee, an artist from Geneva now based in Berlin, to set up stall in the Espace Créatif Caran d’Ache, located at Plateforme 10, the new cultural heart of the city of Lausanne. With the multimedia installation entitled NEXT STOP,Cyril Vouilloz (aka Rylsee) pushes spectators to explore their own perception of time through an acrylic kinetic sculpture. The exhibition is in line with the theme common to the institutions present at Plateforme 10: TRAIN ZUG TRENO TREN.
The sculpture is accompanied by various happenings and a trippy scenography in the first arcade, crystallising the artist’s thought process :
“As always, the plan is a simple one.
I Iwas here and we had planned to meet over there.
Sitting in this seat, my coach is moving and the landscape slips past as time goes by.
My dreams gently take over from my thoughts, I am carried along.
I always forget how much of a blast it is to take the train.
The perception of time here is very different from when we are on the ground or in the air. It is said that the body travels quicker than the mind; and I feel as I am really experiencing this theory to the full.
The sound of the locomotive is soothing, the passing of the landscape hypnotic. I see more than I look at. My eyes close for an instant and time leaves the rails. ”
RYLSEE
A second arcade presents the sketches and models which led to the final installation, offering a dream opportunity to take a look inside the mind of the local artist. The NEXT STOP exhibition is on show until 31 August 2022 at the Espace Créatif Caran d’Ache, Plateforme 10 - Arcades 8-11, 16, Pl. de la Gare, 1003 Lausanne.
