The winners of the educational service competition
THE WINNERS OF THE EDUCATIONAL SERVICE COMPETITION
To mark the 50th anniversary of its educational service, Caran d’Ache launched a competition for schools throughout Switzerland. The challenge? To create a three-dimensional object that looked like a pencil. The participants proved to be incredibly creative and inventive.
Since 1973, the Caran d’Ache educational service has organised free competitions intended for Swiss teachers. The educational service was the brainchild of Nelly Lehmann, a teacher who dreamed up and ran the very first workshop. These classes give teachers the opportunity to discover different techniques using the company’s tools while also acting as a source of inspiration. Every year, no fewer than 150 classes are organised to accompany some 2,000 teachers all around the country.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of this service, Caran d’Ache organised a creativity competition for Swiss schoolchildren. A total of 65 schools and some 1,200 pupils took part in the competition. From nursery school to secondary level, the groups created some hugely inventive works of art. The participants had carte blanche with regard to the materials and techniques used, the only constraint being that the object had to look like a colour pencil.
The expert jury at Caran d’Ache carefully examined each project, assessing them with regard to different criteria such as originality, technique, craftsmanship and execution. Discover the winners in each of the three categories below!
The prizes were presented to the winners in April 2023. The winning pencils as well as some of the favourite projects will be on show in Bern during Swissdidac (21 to 23 November), the not-to-be-missed event in the field of Swiss education.
