Our colour and writing products are manufactured in our workshops in Geneva since 1915.
Caran d’Ache has opened its first workshop-boutique dedicated to creativity at the very heart of the new arts district in Lausanne, Plateforme 10.
Perfectly in line with the company’s values of creativity and transmission, the new Caran d’Ache workshop boutique in Lausanne stretches across four communicating arcades: a reception area, red from floor to ceiling, presenting the history of the company, a workshop/gallery area where creative workshops are held, an arcade dedicated to the customisation of writing instruments and pencils and a boutique presenting Caran d’Ache fine arts products and writing instrument collections.
“The Pencils Odyssey” by Nicolas Bamert aka L’Original
The first artist invited to bring the Caran d’Ache arcades to life is none other than Nicolas Bamert, alias L’Original – the native of Lausanne famous for creating colourful fantasy worlds. Known for his exceptional, multi-coloured installations, he has left his mark on the workshop boutique with a huge fresco in bright colours – a joyful and vibrant interpretation of a traditional landscape of Swiss mountains. Several humoristic artworks created using Caran d’Ache Neopastel, Gouache and Acrylic also adorn the gallery walls.
Could you present yourself in a single word or phrase?
Original and Unique
Who is L’Original?
L’Original is my alter ego, the representative of a world that I create and share. He is the explorer and saviour of the new world, so to speak.
Where do you find your inspiration?
In the stars. I am always exploring the evolution of our world. My curiosity feeds my creativity.
What does Caran d’Ache mean to you?
A return to my first colourful creations and to my inner child. The start of a great adventure.
What do you like about Caran d’Ache acrylic paint?
Its texture, its light and its covering power. But what I particularly like about Caran d’Ache is the range of products which offers me an endless source of exploration in my creations.
I am an unconventional artist who comes from the street and the world of graffiti. So I have created my own movement:
Positive Art :)
So visit Lausanne for a unique and colourful experience!
